The Race is on...

Friday, July 2, 2010
I know, I know... I still haven't finished my vacation blogging. :) Working on it. I probably have three posts to work on to make sure that I cover everything I really want to for our vacation. And, I will. I promise! I feel so far behind. I want to blog about our trip yesterday to the Aquarium in Newport, too, so that's four posts I'm behind on... going into a long holiday weekend where I know I won't want to be on the computer and will have more stuff to blog about after it's all over! Shew... this is getting to be hard work. :)

I had good intentions of blogging last night about a lot of these things, but after Bailey's t-ball scrimmage (the girls team played the 5-year old boys team and WON!!!), I was tired and came home to crash out. There was also a bit of what I'm pretty sure was food poisoning keeping me down, too. Yay for that (insert sarcasm here).

However, this morning, I got up and ran. I wanted to go one more time before Saturday morning (tomorrow - eek!) when I'll participate in my first 5K at Buffalo Trace. The closer it gets, the more nervous I get. I feel good when I'm running, but I can't seem to get past this one little hump. I can make it 28 minutes, which is about 2.8 miles for me, without stopping. But at that 28 minute mark, I feel like I'm going to just die. I can't breathe, my legs hurt, and I feel so parched that I could literally shove my head into a cooler of ice and still not feel better. The race is 3.1 miles. That means I just have to push myself to run about 4 more minutes... and I have yet to be able to do that. I am really annoyed by it, and really worried that I won't be able to complete the race without walking tomorrow. But, I'm still going to try and shoot for that. So, we'll see. I'm going to promise myself that I won't be disappointed if I have to walk some, since my original goal was the race on the 17th. But, I think I will be no matter how much I convince myself otherwise. Here's to hoping that my adrenaline works for me and not against me... that I don't take off at a pace that's too fast in the beginning and die halfway through. Instead, that my adrenaline kicks into gear on that last stretch, helping me to finish the race. Fingers (and toes) crossed this time. :)

I can't wait to tell you guys how it goes.

Good luck girl!!! I been training for about 2 months for the Virginia Beach Rock and Roll Half Marathon. 13.1 miles. I was doing pretty well getting into my groove until all Dustin's madness with the new surgery and such. Now I am about 3 weeks behind in my training and I am doubting my ability to catch up before Labor Day weekend! SO hats off to you for keeping on! Maybe if I enter a 5K or 10k I will feel like I didn't completely fail at doing the VB Mini! Always next year I guess!!! Anyways- just remember to HAVE FUN!!!! Enjoy YOUR moment :)
